What is Reiki?

Rei – Spiritual Wisdom

  • The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words – Rei which means higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness.  This is the wisdom that comes from God or the Higher Power and is the God-Consciousness, which is all knowing.

Ki – Life force energy

  • Ki which is “life force energy”.  Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

  • Ki means the same as Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit and Ti or Ki in Hawaiian.

  • Ki is the non-physical energy that animates all living things.  As long as something is alive, it has life energy circulating through it and around it; when it dies, the life energy departs.  If your life energy is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow, you are more vulnerable to illness.  When it is flowing freely and high, you are less likely to get sick.

  • Ki animates the body and higher levels of expression.  Ki is also the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life.

  • Reiki is a laying-on-of-hands healing experience in which the Healer calls upon Reiki Healing Energy (Universal Life Force Energy) to flow through him/her to self or to a client.

The Benefits

  • Reiki encourages the healthy flow of Ki (Chi).  As the energy flows through the body, deep relaxation may occur.

  • Reiki can bring healing on all levels; mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.

  • There is no division of Reiki energy into positive and negative forms but when a person undergoes a session of therapy, they allow the energy to be taken into themselves with beneficial effects.  Those receiving Reiki subconsciously decide how much life energy is taken in.

  • Reiki has an intelligence of its own and flows where needed in the amount needed.  e.g. While giving a treatment, if you miss a hand position or a chakra, the energy will go where it needs to go.

  • Reiki gives a direct connection with a Higher Power.

  • Reiki energy is always available whenever it is called upon.

  • Reiki raises your personal vibration and increases your intuitive abilities.

  • Reiki energy will present as heat, colors, pure love, or tingling.

  • Each time you give a Reiki treatment you receive one.

  • Reiki never causes harm.

  • One can treat him/her self with Reiki.

  • While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion.  It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki.

  • While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others.

  • Reiki allows you to experience your spirituality in a more profound way.

  • Reiki will work whether you believe in it or not.

  • Reiki can flow into the unconscious mind to help break up negative thoughts patterns and feelings.

  • As Reiki begins to flow in your life it aids in your healing.  Things that were difficult now become easier.  Reiki helps to eliminate fear, distrust and disharmony in your life.

  • Reiki can be used to treat children, animals and plants; also water, medication, herbs and food prior to ingesting.

  • With each level of Reiki there is a powerful attunement given by a Reiki Master that increases your intuition and your healing abilities.

  • Following an attunement there is a 21-day cleansing period, which may create a variety of mild symptoms.  Drink lots of water; symptoms will pass.

  • Only a Reiki Master can give a Reiki energy attunement.

  • A Reiki attunement will last your whole lifetime.

  • Reiki is available to anyone through an attunement.
